Economic Growth and Socio-Environmental Responsibility

We believe that development must benefit both the community and the environment. That’s why we promote initiatives that protect natural resources and value people. Discover our key environmental and social programs, which reflect our purpose of positively transforming Porto Sudeste’s area of influence.

Environmental Management Programs

Operational Environmental Management Program

We continuously monitor port activities, evaluating and adjusting processes to ensure environmental preservation and alignment with best practices.

Solid Waste Management Program

We ensure proper treatment of solid waste, which is separated and directed for recycling, treatment, or appropriate disposal.

Effluent Management Program

We treat and reuse sanitary effluents and rainwater, reducing environmental impact and helping preserve local water resources.

Environmental Quality Monitoring

Air Quality and Meteorological Monitoring Program

With six monitoring stations, we control dust and pollutant emissions to help preserve air quality in the surrounding areas.

Environmental Noise Monitoring Program

We perform daytime and nighttime noise measurements to control sound levels from operations and apply mitigation measures as needed.

Terrestrial Fauna Monitoring Program

We monitor local species, recording and analyzing population data to understand and minimize potential environmental impacts.

Emission Reduction and Environmental Education

Greenhouse Gas Inventory

We conduct an annual inventory to map and manage GHG emissions, establishing actions to reduce our environmental footprint.

Environmental Awareness and Training Program

We offer lectures and seminars on sustainability to engage our teams and local communities in environmental best practices.

Confined Disposal Facility (CDF) Monitoring Program

We monitor water quality around the disposal cells, using geophysical assessments and sediment control practices.

Marine Ecosystem Preservation

Bioaccumulation Monitoring Program

We monitor metals such as cadmium and zinc in bioindicator oysters to improve environmental quality in Sepetiba Bay.

Water and Sediment Quality Monitoring Program

We regularly assess water quality in and around dredged material disposal areas, using precise lab analyses.

Berth and Turning Basin Monitoring Program

We monitor water quality in berthing areas, following guidelines from the National Environmental Council (CONAMA) for environmental protection.

Aquatic Communities Monitoring Program

We track aquatic biota, including plankton and benthic organisms, to prevent physical and chemical changes that could affect the ecosystem.

Underwater Noise and Marine Wildlife Monitoring Program

We monitor underwater noise levels to protect marine mammals and turtles, avoiding disturbances to local species’ behavior.

Mangrove Preservation

Mangrove Ecosystem Monitoring Program

We monitor the mangrove ecosystem near the terminal, analyzing water and air quality and tracking the edge, fauna, and flora. Ongoing studies help identify and mitigate possible impacts from our operations.

Mangrove Restoration Program

Since 2020, we have restored 11.4 hectares in the Guaratiba Biological Reserve and the Army Technological Center (CTEX), planting mangrove and restinga seedlings. We maintain continuous monitoring and apply sustainable practices to ensure the preservation of this vital ecosystem.

Sustainability

Porto Sudeste believes that environmental preservation is essential for sustainable development. We actively work to promote practices that contribute to a better future for all.
