Our Structure

Porto Sudeste’s Infrastructure

Porto Sudeste is one of the most significant private ventures in port logistics services in Brazil. With state-of-the-art infrastructure and a team of specialized professionals managing solid and liquid bulk operations, the terminal, Itaguaí (RJ), is recognized as one of the most efficient in the country.

Capacity

Porto Sudeste currently has the capacity to handle 50 million tons of solid and liquid bulk cargo per year, with an approved license to expand operations to up to 100 million tons annually. The terminal plans to expand its oil operations through the construction of mooring dolphins, scheduled to begin in 2025.

Our Access Routes

Porto Sudeste has a robust infrastructure of road, sea, and rail access, essential for enabling operations on Ilha da Madeira. New structures have been built to meet the project’s needs, ensuring efficiency and safety in cargo transportation.

Storage Yard

Porto Sudeste operates two storage yards, Yard 06 and Yard 32, named after their elevation levels relative to sea level. Combined, these yards offer storage capacity for up to 2.5 million tons of solid bulk materials.

Yard Specifications

Yard 32m:

Capacity of 1.3 million tons

Yard 6m:

Capacity of 1.2 million tons

Tunnel

Porto Sudeste is the only terminal in the world with a tunnel connecting the onshore area to the offshore terminal.

This tunnel links the storage yards directly to the maritime terminal, serving as a critical logistics corridor for bulk material handling. As a pioneering structure in Brazilian ports, it was designed to ensure safe and efficient material transport — evidenced by its construction without any fatal accidents.

Capacity

The tunnel is designed to handle up to 100 million tons per year in the future, supporting the growing demand of the market.

Pier

Porto Sudeste’s pier, completed in August 2012, is a modern and efficient maritime structure designed to meet the terminal’s export needs. Measuring 766 meters in length, 35.5 meters in width, and 20 meters in depth, the pier has two access bridges (430m and 270m) and was built using 725 concrete piles.

Expansion Project

Porto Sudeste is preparing to meet future market demands and strengthen its position as one of Brazil’s leading multi-cargo terminals. The construction of mooring dolphins will allow Double Banking operations to be carried out simultaneously and exclusively.
